When creating a site, color themes and design are a very important aspect of overall site appearance. But, simplicity combined with accent points is a very effective way to make a site appealing. I created a site recently at Bahad Zabu Aurora and it takes advantage of accent points with a black and white theme. I through a little red in the header so it would pop out at the site navigator a little more. How to convery images and logos in the site to black and white is a very simple effective process using Photoshop

I use CS5, but I think the steps are generally universal no matter what version you have.
1. Open any photo you want to convert in Photoshop.
2.On the top bar select Image --> Adjustments --> Click on Black & White.
3.From this point, your photo should change to grayscale. You can adjust the levels of RGB to change the brightness and such.

Simple as that and you can create photos to fit in your black and white theme. It is fun to experiment with accent colors to create a appealing website! Good Luck

Content Management Systems or CMS are changing the ways that websites are created. You can now upload Joomla or Wordpress to your web domain easily and the functions are endless. Galleries, E-Stores and many other features can be put on a site without any coding knowledge. There are web designers out there that actually use nothing but CMS's now do to the fact that it cuts down on development time which makes a site budget more reasonable. Does this take away the creative flare of a site.

The answer is yes and no. I personally prefer custom coding, it is fun. I feel more control over a website and don't have to follow certain structure rules that with make a site work with a CMS. Yes, you can be creative with the template process, but I believe the options are limited. There are some nice looking Joomla and Wordpress sites out there along with sites powered with other CMS's.
